Transform your shooting experience with precision and control. The Vantage Point Armory Light-Mounted Compensator combines innovative technology with a patent-pending design, offering improved control, faster follow-up shots, and 50-state legal compliance without modifying your firearm.
Key Features and Benefits
Minimize Recoil / Reliable Compensation:
Minimize recoil and muzzle rise by 20–30% and maintain control shot after shot. During firing, the attached compensator funnels gas from the propellant through the ports machined into the compensator. This acts the same as other compensators on the market. However, because this system is not attached to the slide or barrel, it does not inhibit, change, or impede the cycling action of the pistol.
No Threaded Barrel Needed:
Mounts using your SureFire X300U-A® or X300T-A® weapon light, allowing the compensator to attach securely without the need for a threaded barrel, aftermarket barrel, or permanent firearm modification.
No gunsmithing, no threading, and no permanent modifications required.
Enhance Stability:
Enhanced stability and target reacquisition for improved control, faster follow-up shots, and more consistent performance.
Rugged and Reliable:
Designed to withstand intense shooting sessions. Drop tests and live-fire testing have proven the Vantage Point Armory Compensator to be as rugged as it is effective.
Holster Selection:
Compatible with many standard holsters designed around the SureFire X300U-A weapon light, such as the PHLster Floodlight and other similar light-bearing holsters.
Learn more about holster compatibility here.
Standoff Device:
When in a situation where the muzzle of the firearm is pushed up against its intended target, the pistol will not go out of battery and therefore will still be able to fire with the compensator in place.
Ease of Cleaning:
Barrel-mounted compensators need to be disassembled and unthreaded to be cleaned, which can be a hassle and time consuming to re-time the device. This unit can be removed with the light for easy field stripping and cleaning of the firearm and compensator.
Price vs. Competition:
Since the Vantage Point Armory Compensator mounts using the weapon light and accessory rail, there is no need for expensive aftermarket barrels.
50 State Legal:
Since no threaded barrel is required, our compensator is legal in all 50 states.
Sleek Design:
The designer has matched the lines of the slide to the compensator, resulting in a streamlined device that follows the profile of the firearm and weapon light setup.
Made in USA:
Crafted with precision from premium materials in the USA.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Assembling the Light-Mounted Compensator for Smith & Wesson® M&P 2.0 9mm Full Size Polymer Frame Pistols to the SureFire® X300U-A® / X300T-A® (video instructions linked here):
Before You Begin, Ensure You Have the Following:
-VP Armory Light-Mounted Compensator for Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 9mm Full Size Polymer Frame Pistols
-SureFire® X300U-A or X300T-A weapon light (with the "P" latch insert)
-3/32” Allen Wrench
-Torque Wrench (optional but recommended)
-Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 9mm Full Size Polymer Frame Handgun
Installation Steps:
- Verify the Correct Light:
Ensure you have the SureFire X300U-A or X300T-A Weapon Light.
Important: The X300U-A model MUST be used with the SureFire Rail-Lock Kit, specifically the "P" latch insert. The X300U-B or X300V models (thumbscrew versions) are NOT compatible with this compensator.
2. Verify the Correct Firearm:
Ensure you are installing this compensator on a Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 9mm Full Size Polymer Frame pistol.
Important: This compensator is designed for the M&P 2.0 9mm Full Size Polymer Frame ONLY. It will not fit the M&P 9 Metal or other M&P models.
Factory slide, barrel, and frame are required for proper installation.
3. Prepare the Firearm:
Confirm the firearm is unloaded for safety.
Ensure your rail is clean and free of debris, oil buildup, or obstruction.
4. Install the Wedge Block in the Light:
The wedge block that comes with the SureFire X300U-A is essential for this installation. It helps take up any slack between the light and the pistol rail due to variations in firearm frame molds.
The wedge should fit snugly like a puzzle piece. Insert the wedge into the light and screw it in a few turns to hold it securely. This helps prevent wobbling and ensures a firm connection.
5. Attach the Compensator:
Align the compensator with the X300 light’s rail lock. Ensure the compensator cutouts match the rail lock.
Insert the compensator’s lock bar into the designated notch.
Start by inserting the six 2-56 screws into the light’s rail lock one by one, securing them with light torque (5 inch-pounds). If a torque wrench isn’t available, tighten until snug, then add 1/8 of a turn.
Do not overtighten as this may weaken the screws.
6. Secure Using the Wedge Block for Additional Stability:
Adjust the wedge block if necessary to create additional tension, ensuring there is no movement once the light and compensator are attached to the firearm.
Use the side screw on the wedge block to compress it against the rail for a secure fit. Turn the side screw until you feel resistance, then add an additional half or full turn.
7. Attach to the Firearm:
Depress the two wings on the light's rail lock to slide it onto the M&P 2.0 rail.
Release the rail lock to secure the light and compensator to the rail.
Ensure the compensator fits tightly. If there is any looseness, adjust the wedge block to create additional tension. This prevents wobbling and provides a stable, secure fit.
8. Final Fitment Check:
Test for any play or movement by pulling on the compensator lightly.
Perform a quick function check by sliding the compensator back and forth to confirm proper clearance and operation. Verify there is a small gap/clearance for proper function.
Ensure the compensator does not contact the slide or interfere with normal slide movement.
9. Completion:
With installation complete, your Light-Mounted Compensator is ready for use.
Upgrading your handgun with a compensator requires a higher level of maintenance and care. Ensuring that it is installed correctly and checked frequently is critical for proper function and safety.
Results may vary depending on the handler. Vantage Point Armory is not in any way responsible for the misuse of firearms or firearm parts/accessories or the results of such misuse. How to Clean Residue from Your Firearm & Compensator
Residue buildup is completely normal—it’s just carbon and fouling left behind from firing. Over time, it can collect on your firearm and compensator, especially around muzzle devices. The good news? It’s easy to clean off, and it doesn’t damage or remove your Cerakote finish when handled properly.
Important note: We’ve seen cases where people try to scrub off the residue too aggressively, which actually ends up polishing the carbon rather than removing it. This can give the illusion that the Cerakote is coming off—but it’s really just shiny residue left behind.
Regular maintenance keeps your setup performing smoothly and helps prolong the life of your gear. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to properly clean that buildup and get your firearm looking and functioning like it should.
